Where to Mount Your Dash Cam for the Best View
Placement decides both the quality of your footage and whether the camera obstructs your view. A good spot is easy to find once you know what to aim for.
High and central
Mount the camera high on the windshield, just behind or beside the rear-view mirror. This centers the view on the road and keeps the unit out of your line of sight.
Behind the wipers
Position the lens within the area the wipers clear so rain does not obscure your footage. A spot over the wiper sweep keeps the view usable in bad weather.
Check the law
Some regions limit how much of the windshield accessories can cover. Keeping the camera in the mirror’s shadow usually satisfies these rules and avoids blocking your view.
